Default xp can't recognize shit

computer stopped recognizing dvd,cd drives for no reason......i tried unplugging/plugging it back, and xp still won't recognize squat.....
Any queries?.....maybe I should smash it with a bigger axe

win disk is a no go....cd/dvd drivers are useless

does it even list your drives in control panel/sysem/hardware/device manager ?

if not then its not windows but a hardware problem

Try to flash the bios, make sure you have power going to the drives. Also try booting in safe mode to see if the drives appear there.

.....no luck
looks like its a new motherboard for me cause the drives are recognized on another computer

maybe are the cables from the board to the dvdr's.

or both dvd, and cd (if you have two or more dvd or cd roms) are on the same slave driver.

yah......master/slave.........i've pretty much tried all the config but to no avail
.....there's primary and seconday ide channel.....so when the comp loads up it recognizes the hard drives but then it says searching on the secondary and then it finds bs

bios or cmos.
you know when you start your computer that ask press del to enter setup.
maybe the drivers are disable.

if the dvdr is working it might be a cable issue.
other than that i'm out of ideas

Well if it can't even detect it when you boot up your comp then there's something wrong with the hardware. Either you plugged it in wrong, or it doesn't work. Probably the latter if you've tried plugging it in a various amount of times.
