I would suggest getting a model Charger (his favorite muscle car) instead of a dragster just because it may be a little too soon to make light of the whole dragster thing.

I would love to contribute but it couldn't be this week after the agregious parts list I had to pay for on my truck.

I am not sure for the dragster (I fear they can take it badly, my wife would ... ), the Charger is maybe a "softer" idea. But the rest is fine

Tom, if you change your mind about the broken bone, just make sure you have your id with you, or they may mistakenly admit you to pediatrics

When is the cut off for chipping in? I dont get paid until the 25th, but it's going to be small so i don't know if i can help. My next check will be the 10th though and that one should allow me to help out. So if the cutoff is before the 11th, would someone be willing to chip in for me and i'll pay you back after that? (won't be any later than the 12th!)

Sorry but I'm at work and I don't have time to read all the topic so maybe this idea has already been said by someone...
I think that all of us considers Richard Hammond, as all the rest of the Top Gear's crew, a "part" of the JW community. Probably he'll never use it, but just in order to show him that he is part of us and we appreciate him, why don't create an account for him with his name? We could write the name of the account and the password in the card gift...
Maybe it's stupid but I would like this kind of detail.

I'm out. Although I enjoy Top Gear a lot I don't see a point in buying gifts from which you know 99% will be put instantly in the trashcan. With the series being aired all around the world he needs a truck to move all his gifts, cards etc. The idea of a postcard is a nice gesture, but I see no point in sending gifts. Realistically seen you know Jabbasworld will never be plugged, and nobody will be able to deliver it personally. I seriously doubt they let strangers in his neighbourhood. Just send him a card.

I'm not trying to sound negative, but that's my opinion.

Thats why you need to send something unique that no one else will have sent, I agree though, I doubt the hospital will be equipped to deal with everyone sending stuff, so I bet alot of it will be passed onto others (charity shops and the homeless etc). Its a nice idea with good intentions but not very practical as Lotus has pointed out.

As said, I do like the gesture, and I do understand the thoughts and opinions of the rest. I just don't see it happening though.

Well at least it will make us feel better that we have tried to do something not that I think he will ever see any of it.

Most of the people will send nothing it will only stay a thought in theyr head and they they will justify it... and if you think that he have 3 rooms full of cards, flowers etc its probably not like that at all.
I wouldnt even call them in the hospit if we can or cannot, just get the stuff and deliver it there, its just a gesture of good will not a commercial thing its "we wish him fast recovery and we are interested in his health situation getting better" thats it.

Tom you will not carry tonns of stuff - a card(with some spescial design made in PSP), 1Tshirt, 2 small teddy bears(dont have to be JW ones can be from local shop but must be good qulality and looking nice) and flowers(15-20 roses bouquet?).

My idea of Tshirt was:

I thoutght maybe some special design but i think this regualr design is awsome already IMHO.

Numerous news sources talk about a massive wave of cards, flowers and gifts overwhelming him and his family.

Yeh that was one thing that sounded like good news i kept hearing. I just think it would be massively shit if i turned up and they said they werent allowed to accept personal gifts from non family members.

100-600 cards probably, just guessing... 20-30 flowers buquets and 10-20 some other stuff. Jourmalists like to make and elefant from the mouse

Anyway I like the idea and want it to happen, the faster we do it(money sending and stuff) the faster Tom will get it there or Hammond just can be moved somewerelse and then "it will stay just a thought in our heads and we'll just justify it..."
