Default Weekend toy

Today we saw a 2 seater atom and my dad really fancies one as a weekend toy. Is there any problems with the atom and does it have any better rivals??

Cheers

why not get a bike? there is a magazine here in the US that is called SPEED, and the compared a 560hp skyine v. a race bike, and a vette v. a 600cc street bike (stock). The stock bike beat the skyline (w/ slicks) by 5 sec. so have him look at all his options

The atom will make you look cool. The radical will make you look like a dork in a fisherprice toy.

The Atom looks cool , and for sure it`s the greatest toy when you wanna have fun in the weekend.

The Radical doesn`t look so good , a LeMans racer ? Or what
Where the Ariel has the innovative design .

The atom is very very reliable.. Honda Civic Type R engine.. And if you got some extra money to spend on it.. Get the big supercharger.. 300HP.. They say from a stand still you get to 100 in 2.9 sec and I think you do that in second gear no first.. If you also got more cash to spend on it get Magnisium wheels. Digital read out with all the gadget that comes with it.. Get big brakes and Brake adjester. The car is fantastic.. I usually see a radical at the track amazing machine no dought..

Good things about Radical:
Very fast track car and probebly faster than atom
looks like a racing car

Bad things:
1- Bike engine not very reliable and personaly I don't trust them enough.
2-Very low nose ( Great for track days but not for the road )
3-Looks more like a racing car than a weekend toy..

Conclusion:
If you want a track car only get a radical if you want to have fun on and off the track get an atom it is also trouble free and easy to maintain..

The Caterham, and all the other Lotus Seven based cars, are also a very nice choice...

The atom comes in supercharged and NA forms just to let you know.

The supercharged version is SERIOUSLY quick and will eat pretty much anything on road and track.

The radicals, although road legal wouldnt be as much fun on the roads due to ground clearance.

Others to consider are the Caterham R400/R500 and the new Caterham CSR - cosworth powered - all about the same sort of level as the atom.

If your dad has never driven anything like this before i would definately recommend the lower powered version for a few years before moving up
