That one thing you need badly, must be porn huh? LOL j/k I think there are some conversions you can buy, but if you take it right out and try to plug it right in your desktop, it wont work. Go to a BestBuy store or something and ask if they have thos adapters.
(while you are there, ask them to fix your laptop too)

Even easier.
Simply get a 2.5" to 3.5"data cable/power adapter plug.
About $7.00 in this neck of the woods.
You simply plug the end of your IDE cable and power connector into the adapter which plugs onto the hard drive.
Done it 100 times before
Or if youcan get the adapter cable.

cool will that work? I'll let my dad have a read of that so he can try it out for me, Im abit of a tard when it comes to the electronic bits on pc's, i dunno what cable is what.
I tryed fixing my laptop after it started shutting down after about a hour of use, when my sister knocked it off onto the floor, I opened up my laptop thinking a fan had come undone, anyway when i put it back together, when i turned my laptop back on, all i get is a lil clicking/tapping noise coming from near the power input, anybody got any idea whats wrong?
Thanks rc45, 5vz-fe and demon for your comments

The pictured cable will allow you to directly plug your laptop drive into your PC IDE channel. It will be just like another internla hard drive - propably detected by your PC's bios and appear as the next drive letter.
