R&T 0-200 mph shootout (feat. Veyron)
R&T have done a new shootout from 0-200 mph, here's the impressive result:
Hennessey Venom 1000: 20.3 sec
Bugatti Veyron: 24.2 sec
Lingenfelter Corvette C6 TT: 26.5 sec
Ruf RT12 (650 hp): 35.5 sec
SLR and Murcielago (old version with 580 hp) didn't reach 200 mph within the 2 mile test-track...

Ohhhhhhhhhhh snap, the mighty Veyron, that is supposed to be able to beat everything, beaten by a production car back in 2005! By the way, the McLaren F1 is 0-200mph in 28 secs... Now we know that the claim that a stationary Veyron can be passed by a McLaren F1 at 120mph and then catch up to and beat the F1 to 200mph is utter bullshit.
Here is the data sheet showing the S7 TT doing 0-200mph quicker than the Veyron:
http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...peedometer.pdf
Saleen S7 TT:
0-200mph 23.4 seconds Almost a whole damn second faster!
I can't wait for the excuses to start flowing!

There're no excuses.
EXCUSE #1
There're cars faster than the Veyron to 200mph.
EXCUSE #2
But the Veyron is much more than a dragster.
EXCUSE #3
And the Veyron average customer doesn't really care about a tuned 1000p Viper that goes faster to 200mph
|
Then why is it that a bunch of Veyron owners... have heavily modded Vipers, Vettes and S7's along side them?
Maybe it is YOU that is wrong and the fact is that milllionaire car guys, are just that.. millionaire CAR guys.

The thing is that you have to be a racing driver to extract the full potential of cars like that Venom. And even racing drivers have to work hard and try several times to achieve those numbers. While in the Veyron that performance is easily available and you can even have a "relaxed" ride:

However I do not trust american magazines, they always come up with different kind of numbers. I am a Veyron lover so I am not objective but it takes the car (officialy) 16 seconds to go to 186, and then R&T says it takes an additional 8 seconds to gain 14 miles...If you look for example at the Autocar movie it looks that it goes a lot faster.
I don't say that it's impossible that the Viper is faster because they are a lot of cars that are faster in a straight line than the Veyron. But I just think that the Veyron can go faster to 200

Wait til you see what the new king is... being tested in a 200 mph shootout for Car and Driver... expect to see severely sub-20 second's to 200 mph... thats all I can say And... the car in question has working A/C, and is running on 93 octane (mon+ ron)/2
That said, this car can also handle 1+ g left and right.
Also, everso.... from my experience with 200 mph shootout characteristics, the times will only vary about 1-1.5 seconds through 200 mph... and most of that is from poor shifting... the Veyron is very clinical at that.
the Bugatti also saves A LOT of time because of its stupid fast 0-60 time.... similar, and higher powered cars would barely be able to muster up a sub 4 seconds launch

WHO THE FUCK CARES!?!@#$ Let me know where you can use 200 mph on a track during a DE or the roads in the US of A, let alone not so many places in Germany.
Funny how JW always gets all worked up over stupid tests.
Which has faster lane change and 'Ring times?

I knew you guys would have some good excuses for the Veyron!
The whole point is, everyone goes on and on about how the Veyron crushes everything in sight in a straight line, but here we have a production car, NOT some crazy fire breathing one-off tuner car, beating the Veyron in pure acceleration.
The S7 may not be the most refined car out there, but it has a/c, a stereo, etc. It is not an all-out dragster either, but a car with a race-proven chassis and excellent handling. So the excuse that it is 'just some dragster' does not hold much credit.
Anyways, certainly the Veyron is a fast car, I'm not denying that. I just like to point out that it is not so much faster than anything else out there as some like to claim.

no excuses are needed. The Veyron was NOT present in that article you posted, meaning the test was done on a DIFFERENT TRACK, under different conditions.
put them on the track together, and the Veyron will pound that pile of american junk into the ground.
you can't compare tests like that done at different times, in different conditions, with different drivers to each other....
DONE.
|
I believe as RC already mentioned, the conditions are more similar than you'd like to admit, although yes it is not exactly the same so I will give you that...
How can you be so sure the Veyron will be faster? The S7 has a much better power to weight ratio and I'm sure better aerodynamics as well. Is it so hard to believe that the S7 could be faster?
