Default Max Mosely: 2008 Rule Changes will happen regardless!!!

Max Mosley has denied claims that his rule-changes are up for discussion.

The FIA president said radical reforms like the end of traction control and semi-automatic gearboxes will happen whether the current teams like it or not.

From 1 January 2008, the current Concorde Agreement is no longer in force.

MEETING

'So the FIA can do whatever it wants,' said Mosley in Imola. 'People just have to decide whether they want to enter the 2008 championship.'

It had been expected that a meeting in Monaco in early May would uncover if all of the sport's ten team principals would unanimously vote for the changes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2008 PROPOSED RULE CHANGES

Technical:
• 2.4-literV8 engines, with a maximum of four valves per cylinder
• Engines must last two race weekends
• Specified components to made from “spec” materials
• Standard ECUs
• Manual gearboxes and clutches
• Ban on electronically controlled differentials
• Ban on power steering
• Standard braking systems
• Tire widths reduced front and rear
• Aero package to reduce grip, straightline and cornering speeds

Sporting:
• No spare cars allowed during race weekends
• Cars to remain in parc ferme throughout event
• A single tire supplier, producing to FIA “spec”
• Drastic reduction in testing based on mileage
• Two identical sets of tires for qual and race
• New qualifying system
• No tire changes during the race

General:
• No restrictions on sale or loan of chassis between teams
• Twelve team entries to be accepted every year[/b]

i voted mosely shove it up his ass and start a new formula. If i owned a team i wouldn't want to totally redevelop the car to the suggested extent. Eventually IMO what will happen will be a comprimise as always because the big teams will use thier influence by threatening to start their own series. I just hope whatever decison is made it makes the sport a bit more competitive though BAR are already looking promising

Mosely's next suggestion to slow down ferrari

(2 mins of crap photoshop work!!)

I would tell him to shove it up his ass because the rule changes are just plain stupid. To make so radical rule changes would be better to start another racing series and keep F1 as it is.

holy shit, this guy needs a baseball bat or two rammed up his ass side-ways!

wtf is with these rules?
no tire changes during a race? is this guy retarded?

i don't suppose anyone here is rich enough to just go buy the FIA and fire this asshole? i'm all for rules making F1 more even and fair, but some of the stuff this guy wants is plain idiotic and just a poor exercise of power.

When 2008 comes and he gets his way, I'll stop watching F1, and I'm sure other millons of fans will do the same. :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

First of all, I think F1 isn't as boring as everyone says. But if Mosley's rules would be effectuated I fear we've got another F3000 on our hands. Ergo, far more boring than what F1 is now.

Second problem is that these rules would take one unique aspect of F1 away. F1 is by far the most technically advanced motorsport. The race for best technology and the immense efforts that lie at the basis of that make F1 so special. F1 is not all about 20 drivers and 17 GPs. It's a continuous struggle between whole teams.

It won't surprise you I voted for the first option and I honestly hope that's where Mosley's new regulations end up.

The ONLY thing I like about this proposal is the manual gearbox and clutch. The rest is complete and utter BS.

ofcourse i voted for the shove-up-his-ass option. BTW how did they want to make an aero package t oreduce both straight-line speed and downforce? do they want to make the car as unstable as they can? add as much drag as they can? i hope the big teams will never ever agree with these rules, i mean i thought the rules for this season were being way too strict! F1 is supposed to be about innovation and the fastest cars on earth, and trying to be the best. If other teams arent fast enough or rich enough, let them play around in F3000, but dont bring the fast teams down!

It will not be an F1 anymore. I don't even think that will be F1 after 2007.

Why worry? Ferrari, Williams and someone else already said that they are planning on starting their own series in 2008 I think. That was like a year ago. The teams will tell mosley to fuck off and form their own F1.

To me much of the changes remind me of F3000, especially the engine restriction. Is Formula 1 not the ultimate in technology and speed?? by now for me, i saw let him do what 'he thinks is best' and then when 50+% of the fans dont support the sport maybe he'll see

Exactly, I can't stand why people would hate on Ferrari just because they are that freaking good. I mean come on, they have come a long way since the mid and late 90s. I applauded Ferrari for putting up such a good race car, having a great driver, and having an awesome team of people to back it all up.

UPDATE:

F1 is likely to strike a knock-out blow to the proposed 'break away' series.

As bosses head to Monaco for a meeting, sources are reporting that all competing teams should vote for Max Mosley's raft of reforms to be installed in 2006.

'It has to happen, and it's going to happen,' a team insider told 'The Times'.

He said the key was 'bringing Ferrari onside.

'We knew the writing was [then] on the wall for Williams and McLaren.'

FIA boss Mosley's proposals aim to make races more exciting and F1 less expensive - 'the public don't care about high-technology,' said the source.

'They just want to see cars racing at incredible speeds.'

Source GMM / CAPSIS International

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SO.... Max thinks F1 isn't about technology and nobody cares about it... OMFG this guy is such a cunt  If I wanted to watch the same cars go around a track I would watch F3000!

On top of all this Max and his team of fucking idiots are trying to persuade Ferrari to NOT jump ship to the new series, thinking they are the key to F1. Well, I'm already tired of seeing ferrari win so much and with only MINARDI and JAGUAR left as possible competetors after 2008 I don't think Ferrari would face much competetion.. Funny isn't it... that if that does go though F1 would be powered pretty much by Ford, just like Cart is today
