some of those are pretty damn vague

obesity; that is somebody's choice if they want to be fat; they remove thier own life, through thier own enjoyment of eating.

suicide, refer to above, but it is illegal

Cancer... how is cancer preventable?

Heart Disease; depends on genetics, and somebody's ability to determin they are beginning to have a heart attack. If they eat and dont excersize, then that is thier problem

car accidents, soooooooo many variables

I think you get my point; at what point do you want gov. to invade in your life and lifestyle.... terrorists don't ask for a vote to kill.

Terrorism may not be the biggest threat to Americans, but it is a big issue. No way in hell I'm paying $4.00 a gallon for gas.

On a more serious note, I can not for the life of me, understand why people still smoke in this day and age.

ok, this is soooooo stupid.
first how many of those are self inflicted?
and how many of those are are caused by someone else? (terrorism, homicide, drunk driving)

you can stop someone from harming someone else (homicide/terrorist) but it is much harder to stop someone from hurting themselves

This is not an accurate presentation. Smoking is preventable by not smoking; heart disease is mostly preventable by being healthy, etc.

smoking causes cancer and the gov can step in and make it illegal if they wanted to but they have ALOT of money to make from it so they dont!!
Smoking doesn't cause cancer. It's juts that smokers tend to get cancer more often than non-smokers. David Hume aside, it is impractical, and probably un-Constitutional in your country to ban smoking.
