Software advice
I have a 30 page document, which needs to be extensively edited. I really don't want to type it all out! What programme can I use to scan in the documents and then edit the scan in word?

^^Yes, they do. They are sometimes bundled with scanners.
Try using "FineReader". It takes up some space and is commerical, but there is a trial version and it's one of the best.

Readiris is also very good. However, if neither of these programmes suit you then just do a google search for "OCR software". Hope that helps

Yup, it's called OCR...
Scanner reads the text and creates an editable(not edible) document. All scanners should already include software that can do this..
