Default WinterRAID - Lancia Stratos - Porsche356- LAgonda- L.Fulvia

On the 14th of January, there was the final stage of the WINTER-RAID, the winter version of the RAID-SUISSE-PARIS
http://www.raid-suisse-paris.ch/winter/home.php

on a sunny morning, 9am (why they start that early?, it was freezing cold -20°C, the start preparations took place infront of the Kempinsky Hotel

heating up the engines

Lancia - Fulvia HF Rallye Coupé (1974) and 3 rivals, No8 is a Alfa Romeo - Giulia Super (1969)

the oldtimer in the starting field, Lagonda - M35 Rapide Le Mans (1934)

according to the start list, this is a Triumph TR6 , anybody knows the exact type ?

Lancia Stratos (1973)

The the rally started, I went to the Julierpass and waited for the cars ...
racing the Julierpass

Renault Champs Elysées, 1961

MG - A Mk II , 1962

Porsche 356 A, 1955 , one of my fav.

chasing the Renault to get to my next picture point

Fiat - 124 Abarth, 1973 passing by

a 1974 Triumph - Dolomite Sprint and a 1974 BMW -2002Turbo

Lotus Elan SE (1991) and Porsche 911ST GR4 (1969) , Lagonda - M35 Rapide Le Mans in action

BMW - 3.0 Si (1971) and Triumph - Mk II Estate FF Prototype (1072) ! and BMW - 3.0CSI (1973)

the driver was really pushing his Porsche, what a nice sound

finally, the Stratos came

with some delay, a Land Rover - 88 Serie II arrived

quite a short event, but amazing to see some oldtimers driving on the winter roads
few impressions of the Julierpass, driving back to the Engadin valley

Not many amazing cars to be honest, but the Stratos alone is enough to make the trip!

I love the pictures with the cars driving on the edge with the mountains in the background, thanks alot!

Nice report, the Stratos seems to be the one that took part to last year's RAID

As the others, I had eyes for the Stratos only and it's really a shame they didn't do it a bit later in full sunlight! Still, to see a Stratos deep in the Alps covered in snow is priceless! Thanks!

^, yes, it was too early to have the sun on the road  :bah:

The Stratos and the Porsche 356 are the best ones in the field, the Renault Champs Elysées a funny one, never saw it before

Loved the pictures Stmoritzer Thanks. I've never really been down with going to see a rally in the cold, but looks like you had fun.

^ well it's not a real rally like the MonteCarlo rally, these "vintage" cars have to drive "normal" speed, the goal is to reach a certain average speed along the way... so no rally-action as Dani has seen last week ...

and dani, I guess you no what it mean, standing in the cold beside a curved road

LOL, 50kmh average, on the Col du Turini , I guess they set a speed-prediction for each stage
