Default My new bose speakers

My parents got back from the states yet, and with them came my new bose companion 3 speaker system which i bought ready for uni as they take up hardly any room at all, plus they're not out in europe yet which is an added bonus

It comprises of two satellite speakers - about 2.5 inches by 1.5-2 insches. a small sub/amp unit which is about 20cm wide and tall and about 30cm deep and a small circular control unit about an inch in diameter.

All in all a very small package - perfect for what i need.
I'll get some pics of my own later.

To start with i had problems getting a right voltage converter to convert UK voltage into US voltage but it worked out ok in the end.

As you'd expect from bose, you can see the quality of the product - immaculate build quality.

My first impressions when i played some music through them were *WOW* these speakers really do deliver. The bass has as much punch as my sony 180W 15" sub! And these are rated 98W for all 3 speakers. The speakers have amazing detail, with some styles of music they can sound slightly tinny but for the majority they're fantastic, especially considering the size. I really didn't think they'd be this good. You don't get any distortion from any of these speakers, no matter how loud you turn it up, and they do go loud - easily enough to fill any bedroom/uni dorm and i'd say that they'd perform better than a fair few home cinema systems.

They're designed to imitate surround sound speakers without actually being surround sound speakers and I think they work well, but obviously if you want proper surround sound you've gotta have more than 3 speakers

Overall then, for $250 or £150 I think you get a great system, especially taking into bose's quality and the little amount of space they take up.

For the purpose I want them for I really couldn't want anything more. I've heard a fair few computer systems in my time but these outgun them all. Maybe a lil overpriced for some people but i'm willing to pay that little bit extra for the qaulity and high standards that bose give. I'd reccomend them to anyone who wants something that takes up very little space, who wants something stylish and something that perfroms

Damn those things look nice, but a little expensive for my budget . I'll have to stick with my cheap altec lansing speakers.

looks very very nice and compact....judging by how bose's home theater speakers perform, I have no doubt in the sound quality that u mentioned but that's a bit too expensive for my usual computer speakers budget....

I got an Altec Lansing 5.1 system for my computer, and it delivers pretty good. It's not amazing, but damn good for now. Did I mention I paid CND 100 for it?

not sure what those are and can't comment on the quality etc but packages like those aren't really good for me as they jsut take up way too much space in something like a uni dorm

Logitechs are pretty damn good. They pump some serious bass.

Nice speakers, if a little pricey (as others have pointed out).

It would complement my powerbook perfectly, and since I travel frequently the small size would be handy. Are there any input/output ports on the little disc thing? Like a headphone jack?

yup, the "little disk" remote controls the volume, has a touch sensitive mute top, a headphone jack and a second line in for CD player etc
