Default Racing Telemetry

Anyone have any good resources on the technology behind Telemetry in Motorsport? I'm interested in the hardware and software applications in both the cars and in the pits.

Any help would be great

hmmm

Well I use a real motec telemetry when I race in GTR.

From the hardware end of things the cars just have a number of censors on them which constantly measure things. Engine RPM, various tempretures, damper travel, wheel speed, oil pressure, pedal position, steering lock.......

All the software does it take that data and displays it to you.

Heh, cool that GTR has makes all the data like it is in the real world..

Im aware of the hardware sensors measuring wheel speed, g forces, etc and software that turns the data into some form of information..

I'm wondering about what type of networking (what type of wireless) networking is used between the car and the pits?

I checked out piresearch.com (they make telemetry systems for US motorsport and other various leagues)

Seems their software runs on Windows so I'd imagine the wireless networking hardware should be simple to configure.

You should check this site. A lot of info about this stuff, I know the Lambo Murci (Peter Kox) team in the FIA GT championship is using this soft- and hardware.
