Default HD Speed Problems

I'm getting a bit worried about my HD.

It's a 200GB Seagate and is used for storage only (Windows and utha stuff is on a separate 200gb HD). The problem is that it seems to have slowed down dramatically..... i cannot transfer files across because the time that it says is remaining just keeps on increasing I know that it is heavily fragmented, but with only 9% free on this particular 80GB partition it wouldn't defragment properly. I think it is only a problem with this partition, but considering it ahs about 70GB of all my recent d/loads on, i am rather concerned.

Is the fragmentation the only problem... or could the disc be ready for failure

BTW - Back-Up to DVD/CD is not possible.... i cannot have 2 HD's and one DVD-RW connected up at the same time.... i want to put one HD on with the DVD and the other HD on another IDE, for reasons of cooling, but it does not seem to work.... (any help on this is appreciated )

Thanks guys
