Default Scuderia Rao - 10/27 - Ferrari 206SP, 340 Mexico, Hakkinen

Front

On to the individual pics ...

Mclaren MP4/4 - Ayrton Senna - 1988 - 1:64 Minichamps
-->not the prettiest F1 car but certainly one of the most dominant - its 1.5 l turbo engine propelled Ayrton and Alain to 15 wins out of 16 races
Model Rating: 6/10 (too small to notice all details)
Worth buying? Yes if you want the complete Senna collection

Mclaren MP4/7 - Ayrton Senna - 1992 - 1:64 Minichamps
--> Aaah, along with the Ferrari 641 one of the prettiest shapes to come in the last 20 years.
Model Rating: 6/10 (too small to notice all details)
Worth buying? Yes if you want the complete Senna collection

Mclaren MP4/2B - Niki Lauda - 1984 - 1:43 Minichamps
--> Older shape sort of resembles the 1992 shape more than the 1988 version.
Model Rating: 8/10 (much better than the above two)
Worth buying? Definitely - nice model + Lauda was WDC in this car

Williams Renault FW16 - Ayrton Senna - 1994 - 1:43 Minichamps
--> Senna's last ride - one of the coolest paint jobs ever
Model Rating: 10/10 (much better than the above two)
Worth buying? Yes ... Ayrton Senna .. nuff said

Tyrrell 002 - Francois Cevert - 1972 - 1:43 Quartzo
--> Actual car: neat shape. Model: I am not impressed with Quartzo - looks cheap and flimsy construction -- i will avoid this make in the future
Model Rating: 3/10 (lousy)
Worth buying? Skip ...

Cooper Climax T51 - Stirling Moss - 1959 - 1:43 Quartzo
--> Actual car: Giant killer in the hands of Sir Stirling Moss. I am not impressed with Quartzo - looks cheap and flimsy construction -- i will avoid this make in the future. Wheel came off when I tried to spin it
Model Rating: 4/10 (lousy quality)
Worth buying? Skip ...

Ferrari F2002 - Michael Schumacher - 1:18 - Mattel
Dynamite in the hands of Schumi. Pretty decent model - looks like the aero parts are correctly reproduced
Model Rating: 8/10
Worth buying? Worth it for the money - engine and innard are hidden. BBR and others are better detailed but is too expensive

Porsche 917K - 1:18 - Autoart
240 mph down the Mulsanne straight. This model was from the movie "Le Mans" starring steve McQueen
Model Rating: 10/10 - Exceptional detailing - rubber on tyres seem very real
Worth buying? Hell Yeah! My best model

Ford GT - 1:18 - The Beanstalk group
The new supercar. Very cool looking....
Model Rating: 9/10 Very nice overall. Exceptional engine and suspension detailing
Worth buying? Yes

Ferrari Enzo - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Nice car overall.
Model Rating: 9/10 Lights are nicely done. The rear hatch is a bit of pain to close...
Worth buying? Yes. Available in black, red, yellow. Black is the nicest IMHO

Ferrari 360 CS - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Not as smooth looking model as the Enzo. The front hood is a little clumsy. OK otherwise
Model Rating: 8.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. Grey or black is the best. Red is a bit generic... IMHO

Lamborghini Murcialago - 1:18 - Maisto
Very nicely done. The only quibble I have is that the cooling vents behind the door doesn't flip open.
Model Rating: 9/10
Worth buying? Yes. Quality better than Hot Wheels. Grey is the best. Black hides too many of the details of the little bat. IMHO

Ferrari 550 Barchetta - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Interior is a little dull and lights poor compared to the Lambo. Ok overall.
Model Rating: 8.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. All colours suit the Barchetta - flashy model

Porsche Carrera GT - 1:18 - Maisto
Very well executed model.
Model Rating: 9.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. Quality better than Hot Wheels. Shines in black

Ferrari 166M - 1:18 - Hot Wheels
Nicest Mattel model that i have.
Model Rating: 9.5/10
Worth buying? Yes. Quality good.

Ayrton Senna 1988 helmet and Michael Schumacher helmet (year unknown)
Model Rating: 9/10
Worth buying? Yes. Has helmet strap

Cool man, I like the way you deconstructed each one and gave a rating.

The 360 CS in black with the stripe is much nicer. Currently only BBR makes it. I hope Maisto or Mattel would bring it out...

I think so.. they had around 10 Hotwheels 1:18 in my store and all of them were red with stripe so I think there is no other color available at the moment LOL

** New on 7/23 **
16. 1:32 Chevron B19 - Can Am - Jody Schecter - GB Track
Model Rating: 8/10
Worth buying? Yes. Nicely detailed for a slot car. But not so nice and shiny that you wouldn't want to take it racing.

That's the Gulf racing livery. I want the Ford GT40 in the same paint scheme and a Ferrari 512M to have a head to head with 917....

Another 917 I like is the Canam version - it was an open wheel spyder with a turbocharged engine capble of putting out 1100hp ...

Mopsdrop - can you pls post pictures of your collection. I'd like to see it very much - particulary the P4 - easily one of the coolest looking race cars ever!

OK ... my Chevron Canam slot car (see 3 posts above) which i bought yesterday was feeling all lonely being the only slot car around a sea of diecasts. So I took pity on it and got it some company ....

** New on 7/24 **
17. 1:32 Mercedes Benz CLK DTM - Bernd Schnieder - 2004 - Scalatrix
Model Rating: 9/10
Worth buying? Yes. Much better details than the Canam car - looks from outside to be diecast quality. Has jewel like headlamps (that actual light up on the circuit), roll-cage, driver, tow bars, spoilers, you name it is awesome...

The quality of scale cars available nowadays are unbelievable.

To misuse an Oldsmobile catchphase " This ain't your father's slot cars"
