I love the ride! I have an '04 STi, but it is still stock. I have never modded a car before, so I am a little hesitant to get started (worrying about reliability, cost, etc.) but I know these cars have such potential-yours is a great example. Anyway, just wanted to tell you to keep up the great work, and when I decide to put some work into my car, maybe I'll PM you for some advice!

Yeah if you happen to have an extra sti engine, I'll buy it for cheap. I'm in Boston and planning to do an STI drivetrain in my 99rs.

You have done a great job with your car, but I can't help thinking: did you do too much considering all the problems you talk about?

Here I though 400+whp 4 bangers were rock solid and bullet proof..

You give us a call when you are driving around with a 70,000 mile old 420whp car that just needs gas and the occasional oil change...

Lots of daily driven 400whp (480bhp) 2l 4 cyliner cars with 120,000km+ and no rebuilds ? Some how, I am not seeing it

But I am willing to hear about them hehe

Youre not looking in the right place...

Theres a TON of high horsepower STI's with high mileage now...Its all about doing it right the first time, otherwise this happens to you. Now its done right so it should last for a long time...Most likely going to be seeing 420whp or about 500+bhp for daily driving...SAFELY...

Show me the actual 75,000+ mile 400=whp 4 cylinders daily driven...

Not eh occasional driver with 30,000 miles - that gets rebuilt every season....

And by lots.. you mean 10,000 cars? And by daily driven you mean driver 40 to 60 miles everyday to work - in bumper to bumper traffic - every day?

Remember, these must be reliable (as in NEVER blown up - EVER) =- 2l 4 bangers and daily driven, and with 50,000 to 100,000 miles - ON THE 400whp+ motor and tranny.

There are not as many you think.

Well, The STI motor has not been out for too long, so you dont quite have so many as you say, obviously. But something like the evo motor thats been out for a while, they have a lot of guys running modded cars as daily drivers.

I know at least of 3 people off the top of my head who have 400+ WHP daily driven STIs with over 75k miles.

Also when I say a ton, I mean NOWHERE near 10,000, that you are more than right about. But for the amount that actually have that kind of power, I know of a bunch which are daily driven like that.

Granted Wear and Tear increases a LOT when you do anything like this, the point im trying to make here is that if done right, there should be no reason why it wouldnt be reliable..
