Default Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa Test drive UPDATED,MORE PICS

I did it.

Got the car for about 7 hours.

These pics were taken with my little minolta. In a day or two, I will post
pictures taken with the EOS 300. A serious camera. High res stuff.

I also used a videocamera and made a couple of nice little clips and me and my friend will make a compilation of those......give me a few days.....

Anyway, the car feels sensational. Ofcorse, it also goes fast as hell....

People turning heads, where ever I went.

Tried to reach the 285km/h.......didn't quite make it. Got it up to 280km/h, I had traffic slowing me down.

The traction control does it's job very well.
If you put it into "sport" mode, the tcs, well actually the "MSP" gives you a little bit of extra time to try to sort the mess up, before it does it for you...

And if you turn it off....you know, the car instantly doesn't feel that nimble and nice anymore.

I almost lost it, at about 75mph. I was going trough a long bend in 3 gear.
The asphalt was a bit slippery and the back came out a "bit". I reacted quickly and fixed it.

The acceleration is really nice. 0-180km/h in about 13sec.
0-100km/h in about 5sec,maybe less

So, tomorrow I'll post some high(er) res pics, some close-ups.....

Enjoy the pics.

me posing......give me a break, ok? I was sitting in a damn Maser

my friend - very focused on the driving

HERE ARE THE NEW PICS

I didn't take them. The guy who owns the canon 300d and took the pics imo could do alot better.....

I'm a bit sad that not moe detail shots were taken. I was too buisy taking pics with my own camera to notice what he was doing.

I'll take the 300d in my own hands next time

Not all pics are bad.
Here you go.

the original size is this......wanted to post these but imageshack didn't "allow" me...

Naturally im jealous too......as 99,9999% of the members i guess.....simply you wont forget the masers drive during many years......BTW....we´ll be very pleased if you go further with your experience in terms of cars sensations, the sound of it, the gearbox, the brakes.......whatever

the sound:

interestingly, it sounds better when you sit inside and are driving the car. Most of the time, the car sounds better on the outside, when it roars past, like the 360 for instance. But with the maser , it's the other way around. I most liked the sound at about 50-60km/h in 6th or 5th gear at about 2k rpm.
That V8 starts making deeeeeeeep and scary sounds. Reminded me of some clasic american muscle cars.....

The gearbox:

Well, it's no speedy, I'll tell you that much. If you don't have the sport mode "on", it feels realy slow, and that bothered me just a bit.
So I had the car in "sport" mode most of the time. The shifts are much faster then, but on the other hand, they're much more agressive also. The car jumps forward at a full throtle shift.

It's not thw wisest thing to change gears all the way up at 7k or higher rpm, because I had a feeling the gearbox didn't feel very comfortable doing that, so I usually shifted at about 6-7k rpm.

the brakes:

At first I taught they were going to be "fade free". Ofcorse I was wrong. But hey, I was hoping for the best....

They are sensitive and very firm and strong at the same time. It's usualy hard to catch the right balance between the two, but maserati did it.
Ofcorse, after a few minutes of agressive driving, I had to push the break pedal harder and harder for the brakes to have similar efect at every breaking point......

But they "charge up" fast, so the brakes weren't a party pooper...

After the first hour or two, my palms would be swetting all the time...my heart was pounding and I got real familiar with my long lost friend - the adrenalin flow...

If anybody has any more questions just ask.

I'm exhausted and my head is filled with so many new info that I can't even remember all the things that happened today...

One more interesting detail.

I got up at 7.30, got the car, drove around, made photos, made videos, drove around some more, took a couple of friends for a drive, drove some more, returned the car and came back home at about 6 in the evening, and the word food or drink NEVER crossed my mind. 11 hours!!! Didn't even cross my mind!

That's how good the car is.

You lucky SOB (in the good way, like dani said )....I envy you and I just wish the damn dealers here were so willing to hand out the keys to cars like this I can't wait for more pics and videos
BTW, what about insurance for the car - what would happen if your little moments didn't turn out so well and you damaged the car?

LMAO....
Well, if it was my fault, I would have to pay 1% of the car's value.
That's about 1500usd, or something like that, don't know exactly...

Oh, and the dealers are not that willing. They're bad ass people.
It was said, that it was impossible to get a test car from ferrari or maserati....
You realy have to know your shit, if you are going to try something like this.....

You have to know what to say and when to say it....stuff like that.

ok, I'm going to bed, good night.

Having a Maserati for 7 hours, awesome m8!!! You sure must had the time of your life. The pics look very good. I can't wait for the highres pics and of course the vids

Any idea how it compares to a Ferrari concerning ride and handling? Is it far more comfortable or almost just as sporty?

The 360 ride was much, much stiffer, harder, how ever you want to put it.

But don't get me wrong, the maser still holds it's own and can mess up alot of other sports car when comparing the handling....
