44 freeking Skylines...
seem to be in the game. (was bored, so I counted them up last night)
44.
Is there really a reason for 44 versions of the SAME car in one video game? hehehe

Yes, because it’s a Japanese console and game and the skyline is the only cool car Japan has ever made… (Waits to be flamed)
Also when I was talking about the M3 being the biggest fan boy car in the world in another thread I had obviously forgotten about the Skyline. I think it actually nudges out the M3 for the gold medal!! But the M3 still comes in a VERY, VERY close second for the silver!
(Waits to be flamed ever more, hopefully something like this – “your obviously a complete idiot if you think that the GTR is a fan boy car, and for that mater the M3 is the greatest single machine ever made n the history of the world. A bunch of Japanese and German scientist got together and decided that if you put a Skyline and an M3 next to each other the sheer asomeness is so strong you can actually feel a warm ora emanating from both! It is this reason that it’s a fact that you would have to fly the Space Shuttle through Boston’s “Big Dig” just to equal ¼ the engernirly brilliance of either car!”)

GT4's 500 car list, or however many it is, sounds impressive until you weed out all those dupes and minor variants out - Lancer Evo, Imprezza and GTR - so many versions of each.

Well you did such a good job with that, you should count up all the so-called 'duplicate' cars in GT4, like say, all those needless different kinds of Corvettes they have in the game, all they really need is a C5 right?

Well - now that you mention it, you can cover the most important Corvettes with 6 cars..
C1 1953 (but they chose the 54.. what was that all about? ) - they C2 Z06 (big brakes, big tank - great milestone car ), C2 L88, C3 ZL1, C4 ZR-1, C5 Z06... hehe
Same with BMW - the 507, 2002, M3 Mk1 and M5 Mk@...
Porker can be done with the 73 RSR and the 2001 GT3 hehe
...but noooooo... Japan has to have Forty frreking Four Skylines...

i thought there was way to many of them
(and evos/wrx's/jap cars in general)
and then they make a great track day car like the 2000 Cobra R feel like the SVT Lightning in the game?!! here here! i declare shinanigans!

Yes, I've always been a bit disappointed with the proportion of Japanese cars on GT in relation to other countries offerings.
The Skyline is a great car I'm sure, but one I hardly ever choose to drive in any driving game. 4 would have been enough. So, that's 40 'wasted spots' that could have been filled with other cars I'd rather have seen in the game
