That would put a damper on folks browsing through a proxy from work..

well obviously I wouldn't ban any legitmate isp proxies as that would impact normal users unfairly.. just the privately run ones which are often used for no good

Some places they block any proxy related sites and by places I mean work places.

So Dan, you can tell if I am logging on from home or work just by looking in the logfiles (or whatever) of JW

...but isn't that the same IP he just posted a few posts back? That says he's in Mexico...hence... ".mx"...which doesn't seem right if he's logging in from Arendal, Norway.

my point was/is its not a very good proxy if you can easily see its a proxy..

if I wanted his real IP I can just look and tell him what its been for the last x months as it rarely changes

Yes, I now you can see that, and I've also found out it doesn't work in p2p-apps.. I asked people if they could manage to find my ip, and they could easily find the real one.. So I've stopped using this ip-hider.. Thanks for giving it to me MB, but it wasn't good enough..

But it could be that everyone is just seeing the ip I used before, and letting me know they can find that, but if I were new at the place, they wouldn't know that there was a difference...
