So you telling me that in this day and age, after paying for GTR and having all sorts of copy protection they still require you to have the CD in the drive to play the game?

If so - what an antiquated and stupid way to "guarentee sales".

I have a number of games that site idle now because of CD damage.

Yep, and the worst part is that those copy protections only screw the people who buy the original thing...

For instance, I couldn't play the legal version of Toca 2 (not that I was missing much tough) due to the copy protection system, and yet the copied version worked just fine.

for tuning, easy of use, multiplay smoothness, and physics LFS is better IMO

What other way is there? Serial port protection Keys?....................And dont forget that most publishers are a bunch of idiots who want some protection no matter what, even though its going to get hacked by someone the next day.

Well you wont find a no CD patch for GTR since it uses StarForce.

Which is why I won't buy the game.

There is no way I am going to subject my CD/DVD burner and purchased CD to over use.

I have a bunch of mid 1990's games that I had to trash because the CD's simply could not stand up to the constant use.

Consoles are different, because the console has no other use, and the drive does not serve multiple purposes - allowing you to leave you fav disk in the console .

Where as PC's have many uses and the CD/DVD should be used for loading the game only - then put away for safe keeping.

Nice game - sham about the paranoia..

I dont think I get it mate.

All PC games legaly require you to put in the CD. Yes you can download an unofficial no cd patch and run the game. So can you by pass the starforce

But the only time GTR actually uses the CD is before the game even starts when the starforce window comes up and does a 5sec CD check.
