Cool. Good design, first japanese hacthback in a while that looks actually good. More interesting than a Golf or Astra.

I rather like this car, and it may be my first self-purchase. It is utilitarian and carries 5 with relative comfort and with trunkspace to spare. It's not exactly a Civic Type R on the road, but with the 2.3L and a stick, it's got some rather good performance. The roadholding is good too with nice stable turn-in, neutral handling unless you really push it into a corner, lift-off oversteer at your command. My only real complaint is that the brake pedal is set too high to heel-and-toe efficiently....this gets a cool rating or even subzero since I'm thinking I might get one (yeah, I know, it's a big step down from the RX8 lol)

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I felt like contributing cos my dad's car is a Mazda 3 sedan, and I drive it all the time when he doesn't use it. It's not really a thrilling drive; far from it. It's looks are also a bit bland. However, it's still cool, because it is far and above the best in its class. It has more oomph than the Golf and the Corolla, and looks better than the Astra. I've driven both the Corolla and this extensively, and the Mazda 3 is far better to drive, both in terms of handling/balance, and responsiveness.
