They're getting the car sorted out finally, but it still needs to do more than put down unbelievable 0-60 times. The GT-R's that ran in World Challenge last year failed to finish a single race. Reading the manufacturer points standings was always funny. For instance: Volvo: 88 points Porsche - 8 . . . Nissan -88.

I think that 0-60 time isn't and has never been the goal of the GTR, but the market does what the public wants.It would be good if they still made FR cars like they used to do, light, no fancy electronics, simple and beautiful shapes, but unfortunately that is not what the playboys wants. So Nissan figured out that they had to introduce the traction control again, and now they are doing 2.9s in a FAT car whit "only" 530hp. And that don't avoid the warranty, they only ask you to drive 1 mile after 4 starts, to cool down the gearbox.
But this car was build by people that over the past 30 years were creating machines to go around corners, so they have a little know how about that.

I think we should give credit where it's due. Nissan (tho took a very long time) did an excellent job on the new GT-R. It has completed a mission that the super bunch (RX-7, Supra, NSX) from the 90's failed to accomplish. The GT-R now globally recognized as a direct competitor of the Porsche turbo class. Same bang for the buck class (giant slayer) as the Z06.

There are clearly some management mistakes from Nissan HQ where they don't warrant broken transmissions and denies the launch control as launch control. I am glad they finally turn their head around and address all those in the 2012 GT-R. (If only this is how it's launched)

It is also because of the GT-R's weight you come to learn and appreciate the effort Mclaren put into the new MP4-12C. You can make a heavy car go very fast in 2 3 laps, but eventually, physics is physics.

As for the looks. I think ppl learned to love the looks because of its performance just like the old GC STI or Evo. Let's face it, those are really ugly cars.

All that said, if you give me a GT-R, I would sell it and buy a Porsche GT3

It is a well engineered car, that is a giant killer. No doubt about it. I find it funny that in many ways, it is still faster than the Lexus LFA; which is two years younger, and cost what, 7x more than the GTR? It does look better, sound better, and has a CF chassis...

I read that the new NSX is back "on" again. Now that Nissan had the balls to kick the hp above 276 in a VERY official way, that the others are coming in now. I just find it too bad that Japanese design; which started coming into it's own in the mid 90's... is starting to look very Korean/Malaysian.

That is were i wanted to get, supercars were and still are a bit too much of show, but unfortunately, no go. What does it matter if your supercar has loads of CF, spacial material, 1000hp, waiting list....and at the end of it, is eaten by a 90's car on a trackday. What it really matters is how every little thing is put together at the end, thats were experience overcomes money. And that is why i like and defend the GTR, they put it together nicely, didn't called it supervelocerapidfasterR35 just to call attention, didn't make you pay billions for a fast ride, they were just fair....they build a sports car, that is good, and can be sold in todays market. They can build a 600hp 1200kg, manual transmission beast, but nobody but us would love and understand it.
Like Bob Dylan said: " The time they are a-changing".........and that's why im not excited about the new NSX, it will try to be a supercar, whit strange shapes, big lights and technology. Just like a geek trying to be popular....

And if you gave me a R35, i would sell and buy a R33.
