Well in theory it shouldn't happen. By law, you can only get off for that if you don't comprehend the repurcussions of your actions. From his quote it's clear that he understands that he killed her.

hmm thats a rather odd development for sure but erm.... well i read this in the paper (advertiser to be precise) when i was in adelaide australia a while ago (mid last year) if any of you are from there it would be great if you could back me up on this
