Default edit:solved: how to rename a bunch of pics ??

Guys

quite a embarrassing question ops:

I'm looking for an easy little program or way to rename a bunch of picture.
preferred without big installations since access is limited.

should become

event-whatever1.jpg
event-whatever2.jpg
event-whatever3.jpg
event-whatever4.jpg

just this simple task, nothing else needed.
as simple as possible

Thanks for your help

There are many programs for the task, Rename Master is good and it's freeware.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/renamemaster.html (500kb)

Or if you can live with having files like this:

filename
filename (1)
filename (2)
filename (3)
filename (4)

..then Windows can do the job, just mark all the files on your drive you want to rename, press F2, type in new name and press enter.

A crude way would be go to the dos prompt Start --> Run --> Cmd

Navigate to the picture folder. Then use the rename command:

Rename DSC023*.jpg event-whatever*.jpg

just to make sure make a copy of your files and place it in another folder as a backup.

if your running Xp you can just select all the files then right click on the first one and rename it.
