Default Video- STi 5 RA at Nurburgring.

Some vids from a novice auto-X, not a time attack, nice however.

hehe, Johns a good friend of mine and a pretty handy driver, hes not got the Subaru anymore, he drives a 200Sx these days. The Sti V RA was a very effective car though, I passengered at Spa and the Ring in it. 8)

Send John my regards as well as those from the Sydney NSW WRX club, we enjoyed the vid
It would of been amazing riding shotgun for those! How was it?

What are his best laps for the ring STi RA vs 200SX?

Why the switch? I figure the 200SX has a longer gear ratio and better cornering but less grip IMO. However the STi is a great tuning base to overcome its weaknesses.

The RA was a great car to passenger in, his had uprated brakes also which helped on track obviously. I have a clip of him drifting it out of the final turn at a track in the UK and entering the exit slip road, real smoothly, quite funny to watch.

The car stood up well to Ring lapping, Johns a bit of a veteran there and knows it quite well so every lap is a pretty quick one, I think hes in the low 8 minutes generally altho don't quote me on that!

He only got rid of the Sti due to job changes etc, the 200SX was just his way of sticking with a fun motor while he sorts himself out I think, altho I hear hes enjoying himself! Not sure if he's taken it to the 'Ring yet actually.

If I can dig out anymore clips of the Scoob I'll try and post them

not the best driving I've seen, but still great videos.

The track looks dangerous with those mountains around

The blue one is Johns Sti 5 RA - those are road tyres tho. And its the 2.0 boxer motor, not a V6 of course.

The black one is owned by a Belgian, its tuned to about 320bhp, and the red one is a UK wagon with a few tuning mods also, that should be making 300+ also. I drove the red one while we were there and the turbo shove was great fun after my revvy Honda All in we had a great weekend.

Johns posted another vid you might like to see chaps, this time from TOTBII last year, I was there cheering him on as it happens

The car had been decatted and setup previously, obviously not properly

V6 STi, I mean as in version 6, as Subaru calls a MY99.
That sudden turbo boost is addictive and fun isn't it, i love it.

Thanks for the link! Nice driving, very tidy and fast! Damn it a whole program like to have seen it all
His STi seems almost stock really. The sway bars (judging by bodyroll) seems stock, engine note, brake calipers, no front mount intercooler, makes it seem a stock ride.
Great car and great tidy driving there, thanks!

The last vid is taken from a TOTB2 DVD produced over here in the UK, I'll see if I can find an online shop for it in case you do want a copy.

As for Johns car it was pretty much standard that I recall, altho I felt sure he uprated the brakes, you seem to think not tho so I'll not argue as I don't know Subarus that well tbh.

It was about the most impressive Scoob I've ridden in tho, very tight body control, lots of urge from the motor and strong brakes, the black one felt quick but the owner didn't really push it that hard so its tricky to tell which was the better setup power wise. The red one in the pic was a UK model with uprated turbo and fmic etc, that had a nice lag then huge surge as it came on boost - very addictive, I hit 135mph on the road that runs ALONGSIDE the final straight on the 'Ring Seriously good fun.
