Default $1 CDN = $1 US

I don't know if it's been discussed on the american news but it's the top story here in Vancouver and i'm sure rest of canada. 1 Dollar canadaian equals 1 dollar american.

so it looks like i'm gonna be buying my next car from Washington state rather than here.

What's the American perspective on this? don't come into canada? lol

I think the worst thing for an American citizen when they come to Canada it's when they return in USA. They must undergo their own stupid "Homeland Security" law: They must wait 1 to 3 hours at the US Custom and bring a passport to return in their own country...like if Canada was the Kazakhstan.

Back to topic: It's a great news for every Canadian citizens exept perhaps some CDN Export Companies.

For my part I find only avantages: I buy a lot of goodies from the States and my business and vacancy trip in USA cost a lot cheaper. 8)

^Not really, my company main business is US....and we are paid in USD. Our profit dropped significantly over the past 2 years.

Also, with USD dropping.....alot of Canadians will go to the other side of the border for shopping, hurting our retail as well.

who told you that? sure, it takes a while for the trucks bearing cargo... but I was in Winsor just a bit ago, and it took all of 2 minutes for 4 people to cross the tunnel both there and back later that night...

as far as my view.... its a reason to not goto canada anymore... no more cheap beer

as for here, the prices dont really feel that different anyway

I've never gone to Canada specifically to buy something. I go to Canada specifically to ski. I just booked plane tickets to Vancouver for new years 2008. Gonna ride Whistler again. One of my favorite places to go in fact - and I was spoiled most of my life with season passes to Colorado's top resorts.

Your right about Cargo trucks it's now their daily routine to wait that long. About normal passager cars you can wait at the Quebec/USA border more than +2 hours on summer/winter holidays peek period.

I base my point when I take the plane at Dorval (Montréal Int. Airport) to go in USA. I compatise always with American citizens who must wait couple of hours like me in the line before taking the plane. But, I must to admit it's now better than the years following the 9/11 events.

Last time I was in Canada, it was 1 USD to 1.35 CD. After you paid all the extra taxes, it seemed about even. I guess now everyone will shop in the and visit the USA. Welcome.

On my road trip this summer there sure were a lot of European visitors. I guess nows a good time to visit. Welcome.

Hmm, the US dollar is really dropping. The Australian dollar has become stronger against the greenback this year, but unlike Canadians, it's not like we're going to all fly to America to buy things.

At some point this is all going to affect the profitablility of the foreign automakers as they currently discount their prices to keep their market share in the US. They may at some point just have to let go and the price of foreign cars will skyrocket in the US.

However, the Blue Devil Corvette will be dirt cheap overseas, that is if the foreign governments dont add all kinds of import duties and value added taxes as they are so well know for.
