Speed Racer a lot of fun

The reviews have been terrible, but I thoroughly enjoyed Speed Racer. The movie is probably rated G and is great for kids. The kids in our theatre were howling everytime something funny happened which was alot of the movie.

They did a great job translating the cartoon into a live action movie. Its done in a very colorful cartoonish digital matrix kind of look that is very cool. Once you accept that racecars can do all the things you see on the screen you can just sit back and enjoy it.

Just like the cartoon, the monkey and the little brother get all the laughs. Everyone is perfect for their roles. I really can not imagine a better movie being made out of the cartoon, as it really captures the feeling of the orginal while updating it and making it alot of fun for today's time. I'll give it an A- and thats pretty good for a movie that you can take a six year old to.

I dislike the cartoon, so will give the movie a miss, but I know plenty do like the cartoon and it sounds like the movie was made for the fans - they should enjoy it then.

Apparently everyone is staying away in droves. It may only come in 3rd this weekend behind "Everything stays in Vegas" which only cost $35 million to make "Speed" cost $160 million to make.

Yahoo is listing Speed Racer as #2 behind Iron Man this weekend.

I said "may", there was alot of estimating going on for Sunday's nights attendance. The Speedracer camp projected alot of "moms" would go with their family to the movies on Mother's Day and see Speedracer. It was still in the air when I wrote it.

In the end the Speedracer did beat the Vegas movie by $200k.

A lot of the reviews have critized Speedracer for being "too colorful", my view its a car movie and most reviewers don't like cars.

Funny. I thought the opposite when reviewers started writing positive reviews.
