DB movie is old news. There was one in 1989 It was painful, and I didn't make it through the entire film, not even after a few glasses of vodka! I don't expect this new live action film to be any better. They should just leave well enough alone.

I give you the Taiwan made Dragonball Movie. Watch it if you dare.

Other anime series/films being converted into live action..

Ghost in the Shell - headed by Steven Spielberg

Cowboy Bebop - headed by Erwin Stoff

There is a live action version of Hellsing being made, but there is next to no details on it.
No, I'm not talking about Van Hellsing.

Matrix is loosely based on GITS

Hellsing was a fantastic 13 episdoe series... but how many vampire movies can co-exist in the same generation?

30 days of night
Underworld 2
underworld
Van Hellsing
Blade 3
Blade 2
Blade
Vampire in NY
Duracula: Dead and loving it

Am I missing much?
At least, you'd hope for something innovative within the genre... like Interview with a vampire.

And it def. hasn't been long enough since Bram Stokers(sp?) "Duracula" to do a remake...

All of this creativity in Hollywood, and I hear that Bill and Ted III is in the works... yikes!

The matrix took fundamental cyberbrain technology and network technology theme from gits, but that's about it. Of course, there wouldn't really be a movie with out it.

The original gits manga was released in 1989, way before the internet and lot of other technologies came of age as they are now. It was way way ahead of it's time. The first film was released in 1994, which was ground breaking to say the least.

A live action film I believe could be pulled off my spielberg. The question is how faithful will be be, would it be a direct recreation, or an americanized retelling in a new location. Nevermind the question of casting. (Angelina Jolie for the Major?)

After seeing films like Minority Report, I think the visuals and technological side could be pulled off, it's pleasing the fans that will be difficult.

I agree Hellsing doesn't need to the turned into a live action movie, the 13 episode TV series was ...OK, it's the manga and the current running OVA series thats the real meant and potatoes. You should check them out.

Cowboy Bebop, one of my all time top 3 favorite series, could be made into a really good film so as long as it's kept as faithful as possible to the style and music of the series. The biggest draw to why it did so well in the states is because it's such a westernized anime.

I was just listing these for the sake of listing.

They should make a movie version of Spirited Away. The storyline is excellent, easily one of my favorite movies of all time.

I'm not a fan of anime but that movie is GREAT.

I always thought, they made a movie out of Pan's Labyrinth, they can make a movie out of a Miyazaki film.

Nausicaa would be my vote, or Laputa: Castle in the Sky.
