yes when i was in hong kong one of the taxi drivers was saying how his brother spent alot of money on his car, and the licance plate.

as petrol and cars there are also very expensive.

Some of the vintage licence plates , and also some plates with custom names, go for ridiculous prices over here in Australia - still not as high as what the British are paying.
I'm fairly certain NSW license plate '2' went for a record price of around Au$500,000 (or was it Au$250,000??) last year.

It's $40 a year in Texas, 6 letters or numbers, anything you want as long as its not offensive nro already registered.
