Yes, this one is very good indeed...it's a pity that didn't happen the same with the Ferrari crossing the finish line...it would have been an incredible photo!!

we took this at the grand prix and we had 3, 1gig cards and we only got a few good ones. Your mates camera must be a 1D nothing else can focus that quickly!
Unfortunately just because you have a good camera doesn't mean you'll get good photos, and you don’t necessary need fast focus, for instance you can Pre Focus lock

A 300mm lens (effectively 480mm) fitted to a 10D, 300D or D70 is sufficient for track motorsport events. The longer lenses are aimed at Wildlife photographers who need to fill a shot with a tiny bird from 100 metres.
