Default Tinyurl.com .. how the hell does it work? Amazing!

http://tinyurl.com/

As simple as possible: you just give it an url, as long as you want, and he will give you something like http://tinyurl.com/njq8

How the hell it is possible that if you click that tiny one you'll end up on the one I entered? And also if you'll try tomorrow or in a month, as far as I know it will still work...

I'm amazed

It's quite simple, TT. The tinyurl address gets you to a place on the tinyurl server. Once you get on their server you get redirected to the original location (of wich the address is stored on the tinyurl server). Do you get this? It's so simple that it's hard to explain. There's an explanation on their webpage too.

By the way, nice find. Thanks.

Indeed. Or, in case it's stored for ever, the combinations might get longer. Then the name of the site will become www.slightlybiggerurl.com, and then www.prettybigurl.com, www.massiveurl.com will be next and finally, when it gets really popular: www.fuckinghugheurl.com.

Awesome image choice btw TT--I already had that pic as the background of my computer! Amazing what satellite pics can turn out with false colours.

A similar place is www.makeashorterlink.com. I've been using this one, didn't know about the tinyurl.
