Like SFD said, you can't go wrong with WU Tang.

The Method Man and RedMan: Blackout CD is awesome.
De La Soul
Beastie Boys is always good, just ask gis
Pharcyde

Lots of good CD's.... don't buy any of the new shit though...

Dr. Dre 2001

OST - More Music from 8 Mile (not the OST - 8 Mile CD)

Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt/Blueprint 1(not number 2)/Black Album

Eminem Slim Shady LP(AMAZING!)/Marshall Mathers LP

Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle

NWA Greatest Hits or their earlier stuff

Notorious BIG Ready To Die/Life After Death.

 ADAM F Kaos... The Anti-Acoustic Warfare 8)

There are loads others.... stay away from G-Unit/50 Cent/Fabolous etc... their songs are catchy, but not classics

A few must have tunes

Mobb Deep - Burn
Mobb Deep - Get Away
Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II
Dead Prez - Hip Hop
Notorious BIG - Juicy

Hmm...I hate RAP...so dunno if my suggestion is of any use, but I advise ya to listen to Naughty by Nature (oldschool) or the "Skull and bones" album by Cypress Hill (rock side rules!).

Lloyd Banks - Hunger For More
Twista - Kamikaze
Kanye West - College Dropout

cant think of anything else. go to like power106.com and download the current playlist they have. that would be a good mix cd.

West Side Connection Gang - Bow Down (Best rap cd ever in my book)

WSCG = Ice-T, WC and Mack 10

If you get your hands on this one, please let me know what you think of it.

Cheers

hmm... not really a rap fan, but I do like some of the new stuff as well as the old school.

Eric B. & Rakim - Follow the Leader

Kanye West - College Dropout

As 666Fast stated, that new Talib Kweli album is good

RUN DMC - Tougher Than Leather

Notorious BIG - Juicy
