Default Alonso on mission!!!

Alonso to make amends in Montreal?

Fernando Alonso, who has been dwarfed by Renault team-mate Jarno Trulli so far this season, says this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix could bring a return to the podium for him.

Alonso has scored points in six of the seven races so far, but his only podium appearance was in Australia, where he finished third. But the Spaniard is confident of being one of the top three finishers in Montreal, even though Trulli has outscored him in the last three grands prix.

Renault will introduce its latest specification engine at Montreal, a track where top-end power is essential. This is the second evolution of the RS24 powerplant this year, following the revised unit introduced at Imola.

"Our car has good traction out of slow corners and is good under braking, which are two important areas in Montreal," said Alonso. "I think we should be looking for podium finishes to maintain our championship position. The car is always nervous because of the low downforce levels, which makes things more difficult - you have to push as much as possible, as in every other race, but it is harder to drive the car on the limit.

The chicanes at Montreal are not like other circuits - in Imola you can really attack them and be aggressive, whereas you have to be smoother in Canada. It is quite a difficult balance between attacking enough to be fast and not pushing too far, because it is quite easy to step over the limit. The barriers are very close if you do, so you cannot afford any mistakes at all," he added.

I think after last years Hungary win, in which he lapped Michael everyone thought that he would be at the top. After that i think everyone expected a lot of him. Before he was even faster that Trulli and so the pressure wasn't so much but now i think he has to start delivering the goods.
But a good driver anyway.

Then the following race he got lapped by Michael, lets not forget that. haha.

He seems on the pace at the moment in practice and looks like a top3 finish for the race but as everyone knows anything can happen.

Will be more interested to see which BAR driver will win 1st.

HOLY CRAP!!! Ralf took Pole!!!!! When Button out to set a lap 1 second faster than MS, I thought, hmmm, that's prolly over, he will take pole no problem. Damn that's an interesting qualifying session. Now all we wonder is the fuel load on the top qualifiers.

Unfortunate for Renault. Just when Alonso started reeling them in his car broke.

He was lapping 1.5s quicker that everyb

Hope they have better luck on Sunday.

All in all a great race.
