Top Gear Australia: a review
I was going to write my own, but Herald regular Michael Idato wrote one which I thought hit the mark.

Essentially, it's good, but not quite as good as the BBC original. I still like it, but just not as much.

Sounds about right. I don't expect a better review for Top Gear America either.

You can't beat Clarkson, Captain Slow, and the short guy.

They need to get rid of Steve. He doesn't bring anything to the table (Charlie is an ex-racer so that's covered and Warren is the weird one. Steve is just ... there and he's annoying IMHO) and they shouldn't have done that Smart hearse thing. It was just bad taste.

I guess against popular opinion , i like it, i like the aussie vernacular thats been added, nothing is going to match the BBC one with its history.
And every show like this needs an annoying one, it works your bringing it up!
I think Jeremy Clarkson is annoying and a prat to boot, but i still watch it.
I will be curious to see the US version and it`s reviews.

But Jeremy Clarkson is witty while being an asshole.

Just watched it on Youtube, not a patch on the real thing. I suppose they haven't yet got their flow and they're not friends yet.

I think the bigger problem is the name. The English Top Gear is great. This is also great - it has exceptional production values and entertaining hosts, but it's just not Top Gear. It will always fall short. If it was called anything else, it would be brilliant, but I'll always like the English one more.

Get rid of Steve? Thank god James Morrison has come to the show to replace Charlie.
