E36 M3 Lightweight For Sale

Its very curious to notice that the M3 E30 value in second hand market is very similar to the M3 E36 as here.

The reason as far as I know is just the link between offer and demand; in fact, now on the M3 E30s are offered in spain by 12000€ regardless its mileage, the conditions and so on.

Also I understand the lightweight´s price why is so high (it makes sense considering that only 120 units were made).

Finally, once I see that you are literate on cars (ae86_16v), Ill appreciate a lot if I know the M3 lightweight´s weight just for being curious

A quick glance at e-bay motors suggests that you could score an '02 E46 for somewhere between $22-$27k easily (USD) with somewhere around 40k miles.

Mileage doesn't matter on a E30 that has been cared for

Bout to put down a deposit on a '87 325is with track goodies and zero rust
I don't even know how many miles are on the car, but I trust the guy who found it because he has made a living building and rebuilding BMW's for the track.

Exactly, it is more of the fact that this is a special model and limited thus demands a huge premium over the regular one. In fact, most E30 M3s in the US will cost more than E36. We sold a ton of E36s in the US. Like I said usually you will spend around $15k for a nice E30 M3. Even if you don't spend that much money up front for a "not-so clean one" you will end up spending that money down the line. And again mileage can be anywhere from 70k miles to examples over 200k miles. (Keep in mind, this car only has 14k miles.)

As far as the weight is concern, most literature puts it at least 200lbs (90kg) to 300lbs (130kg). Depending on options of course.

In the end, for people that like cars, not really. Yeah, I would definitely buy a car with higher mileage that has been cared for rather than a low miles car with only factory maintenance.

I don't know, in California, I have yet to see a decent E46 M3 under $25k. In fact most decent ones are still hovering around $30k with the mileage you listed. But then again California cars are always more expensive.

Kelley Blue book listed Excellent at $32k and Good at $30k for a E46 M3. But again, you aren't comparing Apples to Apples. E46 M3 is more of a cruiser, this is a purpose built race car.

Like I said before, most people would think we are idiots for dropping $15k for a E30 M3. But I certainly would. Not exactly sure if I would drop $40k on this, but I think it is definitely desirable.

Right but dealership prices are usually higher than auction prices. Even the "buy it now price" is set by the seller - so if it's a private sale it's usually less. Either less or ambitiously high If I went to a stealer in Vegas I'm sure I couldn't find the car I mentioned at that price either.
