What ever you do, TAKE your time, don't take any decisions when your doubting
about something.
Good luck, hope you don't have any problems with it

Comment: 5L, 5 Spd., black on black with GT int. and anniversary white pony rims, new tires, safety and emiss. if requested, $4,200.
Theres the Ad for the car. The only mod I know that it has is a set of Mac Exhaust manifolds/pipes. about 225,000km's on it, the guy has had it for 4 weeks, and he's touched it up a little. He put on some new Head gaskets, and re-painted some of the custom white interior trim back to black (cuz the white looked like shit), but he left all of the fluids alone so we could see how the previous owner left it (fairly good fluid shape). He's also replaced the trunk latch/lock, and ignition because it was broken into, but they work fine now. He put on 4 new Michelins (he claims $180 a piece), but i dunno of thats good or bad (could be hiding tire wear...) Any comments are appreciated, especially arguements to use against my dad.

You say it has a new ignition because someone broke in and stole the radio?
He has only had it 4 weeks? Put on 4 new tyres but did not change the fluids?
I say HE stole it and changed the locks - and is now trying to fence it.
Buyer beware - sounds fishy to me.

sounds like he bought it at auction or an impound lot. Run the VIN # through car facts, it will tell the history better than he will, LOL

even if he doesnt do it for you, it shouldnt be very much in price, I run any prospects myself, that way I know what to look for when I look at the vehicle, such as rust from salty roads or bad bodywork from a previous fender-bender

On www.carfax.com, if I put in the VIN, will it tell me all the previous accidents etc. that the car has been in? is it worth the $25? And will it work for cars in Canada as well? or is it mainly US based?

I would say that if the car is worth buying to you, then an extra $25 wont hurt your feelings to find out more info on it. 8)

It tells you who owned it, where it was registered, and what major accidents that were reported to insurance.

That's not true. If you can't get 1st gear, it's a good indicator of something being wrong with the transmission, and you definetely should NOT get it. If you're double-clutching down through the gearbox, then it may lock you out of 1st gear until you're down to something like 10-15 miles per hour, but you should certainly be concerned if it will not engage at all.
|
I should have refraised my self, I didnt mean not getting 1st at all.

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but theres news on the stang > Turns out, he hadnt sold it like I originally thought. Some guy put a down payment on it, but backed out, so he recently put it back into the auto trader, but this time for $250 more. I went back tonite with my family, they looked it over in the light, and we did a background check on it. 1 owner, female driver. So we put an offer on it. We offered him $4200 plus we pay for cert. he e-tests. Hes sleeping on it. Hope this doesnt ginx me, cuz theres another guy with an offer on it. lol
