Busted!!!
The story goes that this photographer from Cape Town noticed this beat up Toyota parked one day - and commented how close the numbers were to his car.
Then he realized... it WAS his license plate numbers!! The fucker had STOLEN his numbers since the car was also a Toyota Corolla... :shock: :shock:

nic pics. the DMV will love this mix-up....
theres a guy i know who owns two camaros from the same year and thinks that switching the plate is totally ok. but what can you expect from a guy who owns two early 80's camaros right???
people are stupid, what can ya do???

Thats quite freaky/interesting... but how the hell can you just "steal" someone's licence plate number??? If the older toyota is registered, then there's no way that he could have used the same number... I guess it isn't registered

lol, i wonder what the guy did when he saw this. And I wonder which car has the original plates on it... hmmm. wouldnt it have a year in the registration though? those cars deffinitely arent the same year.

Folks - it's simple really.
If someone is going to break the law they will circumvent the normal process (much like a person obtaining a gun illegally... - and while this may shock and surprise many - that is the fundamental difference between the law abiding and law breaking  ) - namely drive their car illegally and unlicensed on the road.. they will simply make some kind of "fake license plate" that at first glance will pass scrutiny. Such as a cop radioing in "CA 123456 - check on this car" - "Roger - it is a white/beige Toyota Corolla - over" - "Roger - looks good".
That's all...
Of course a simple fake job won't pass severe scrutiny- but it's not supposed to.
Now as far as plates in Cape Town - what you see is what you got at that time (in 2000 - they may have changed registration details since then) - but no, the plate did not carry any indication of registration year - that is contained in the round paper discs pasted to the windshield - which you can see on the new Toyota - but not on the old one...

south africa has an awful high crime rate, and im sure it won't draw much attention at all.
because they are to worried about car jackings ect.
i don't know if they use rego stickers aswell,
but IMO it's not a bad way to have a car on the road without having to pay a few hundred for fucking licincing to drive on shitty crowded roads, that will cost you about $100 if you drive to fast on them.
