Default Carbon Fibre Wheels Anyone?

I was reading some import magazine and I came across these carbon fibre wheels...and since I'm obsessed with carbon fibre I was like cooool

Now I'm not really sure what to think of these...they look pretty cool to me, I think c/f is a really cool looking material, and I would guess the wheels would be very strong and lightweight...and they don't seem that outrageously priced ($1390 for a set of 17.0 x 7.0). Not that I'd ever buy any, I'm all about stock wheels (why waste money on wheels when you could spend it on speed parts?), but if someone was in the market for wheels these might be cool.

What does everyone else think of them...too bling, bling...? Cool?

C) thus those wheels weight MORE than regular wheels.

so it's ricer stuff.

They look like shit anyway!

I think they could look good on the right car, but you have to bear in mind that F1 cars at the pinnacle of technology don't use CF for wheels, as it is clearly not the lightest/strongest material for wheels, which does kinda take away the novelty of having "super-light" wheels. I would imagine that the wheels are just covered in a layer of CF as well..

ok weather you believe me or not, i have seen thoes wheels in person on a toyota lexus..

and i must say, you don't rely notice them as carbon fibre.. unless you know what it is, and look out for it.

quite unique, but also expensive

Humm, you like CF, my new forks are made of CF:

Put you cursor over the forks to get a larger view (no needs to click)

Yeah, seen those wheels a while back and they r coated in carbon fibre.
I think that CF wheels would be too brittle resulting in brittle fracture if you ever toutched a pothole.
I quite like the look tho, if they were lighter and cheaper i'd have considered them for mine. (gotta be easy to clean aswell!!)

Jon, they are sum fuckin sick forks, 200mm travel!! U may as well get a motorcross bike, take the engine out and weld a bottom braket and cranks on! (my mate actually has made up a DH bike with the forks and shock off of a crosser, needless to say gravity's about the only thing that'll move it!)

How can CF be brittle? They almost always wrap that stuff around something like plastic or aluminum, like the Carrera GT's tub or an F1 tub, which have made them extremely durable... and safe.
