...Its 10 years old, yet, it doens't even look like dating. Talk to Gordon Murray and he'll tell you he wouldn't do anything different if he had to build it again today.
I'll say it again, the McLaren F1 IS the greatest car in the world - and I can't see anything ever beating it."

That doesn't mean it is quickest around a track. Somewhere on this forum I believe there was a Mclaren vs F50 or just a one car review done by Top Gear. In the end Tiff said for the average driver the Mclaren was more fun, but in his hands the would get quicker lap times in the F50.
On a track the Enzo has an advantage over the F50 in just about every possible area. I think the Enzo wins in this comparison.

again its personal opinion that is in play. i think that its what you as an individual thinks, not all the peformance values n stuff. yeah the f1 might go slightly faster, but is it as fun to drive as the enzo? the enzo does have increased downforce in the front wing, but can u drift and drive with the same setup? all personal preferences. id call it a draw.

Age matters less than you think. Also depends on the track.
I would guess that the Mclaren may win on the original Le Mans for instance (Long straights), but the Enzo on any shorter track, mostly because of its better brakes.
As for age - it would be interesting to match, for instance, a 1950's Jaguar XKSS on a twisty short track. The Enzo is BIG and HEAVY...

I just don't think everyone realizes how little difference there is between the Enzo and Mclaren in a straightline.
0-60 = 3.3 vs 3.2
0-100 = 6.6 vs 6.3
0-130 = 10.3 vs 10.4
0-150 = 13.1 vs 12.8
1/4 = 11.1 vs 11.1
1km = 19.52 vs 19.55 @ 175mph
top speed(lemans maybe) 225mph(best so far) vs 231mph(with limiter)
The Enzo has an advantage everywhere else and the Mclaren is only a very very small bit quicker, and at about 175mph they are still even. That isn't going to make up for the Enzo's track prowess.

^^^So what...I don't care if the Enzo is a whole second faster to 60mph, or if it can lap a track much faster than the F1...it should be able to with 10+years on the F1; if anything, its surprising that the Enzo isn't noticeably faster than the F1 in every area.
The Enzo will never be the better car, not with all the bullshit it has, flappy paddles, power steering, traction control, launch control...psh ...and it will never look as good as the F1.

The Mclaren may be 10 years old, but that actually works against the Enzo in several ways. First emissions these days are very very strict. In fact even Ferrari thought it would be impossible to do something like the Enzo at first because of the restrictions. Second safety is a huge thing now. The Enzo has a lot of weight because of safety requirements.
Also price is a very big thing. At twice the price of the Enzo(and they still weren't making money) Mclaren used everything to the max, if the same thing was done now no doubt they would make something better, but it just isn't feasible anymore, even for Mclaren. I'm not using that as an excuse because I realize that really has no place in the comparison, but it does explain why a car that costs twice the price might still have advantages over a car built ten years later.
Also, the I wasn't claiming the Enzo was necessarily quicker in a straightline because I'm fairly certain it isn't. I was just saying that it isn't so slow in comparison that the openess of any realistic track would make a difference.
Lastly the reason I'm talking about track speed is because.......... that is what the thread is about. You are not talking about what this thread is dedicated to.
edit: and as predicted by many about 175 the Enzo has a big disadvantage in terms of drag.
0-300km/h = 26.1 seconds, very fast, but not quite the 23.4 of the Mclaren
