We can confirm BMW is plotting the return of turbocharging to the lineup with a 3.0-liter, 240-hp I6 in a proposed 330Ti. It is aimed at bridging the gap between the regular line and a new 4.0-liter, 400-hp V8-powered M3.

So the turbocharged 3.0 has less power than the NA 3.0L? Shouldn't that be 340bhp? And if so, that will become a very popular car with aftermarket tuners; you should easily get 450bhp or more out of it. Would be serious competition for the M3.

BMW also is developing a limited number of fwd 3s using the electronically controlled xDrive system found in the X3.

I'm sure it will be a big hit as all 3-series models have been over the years, but... I agree with those who say the styling is really drab and ho hum. It looks to me like they tried to make a mini 5 series and not be too radical so as not to put off the masses who won't appreciate it as a driver's car, but only want the spinning propeller on the hood.

back end looks odd with those taillights
BMW definately played it safe with this one but still trying to follow the 7, 6, 5, and 1. Turned out pretty good, of course we'll just have to wait for all the yuppies to voice their opinion to really determine the efectiveness of the redesign, and the new M3 to REALLY see what happens.

i think it is very very ugly like his big brothers 5 series and 7 series. now at the end bmw has managed to make all the series ugly enough!
