But does your source work as an engineer direct for bugatti, not the VAG group? If not, I wouldn't wholly trust him, as i said, only the engineers really know whats going on with respect to anything technical.... as with F1 and any highly compeititve markets - any other division of the company gets told what they only need to know or what they want to hear, not neccesarily whats actually going on.....

But then again, who says its so heavy? the British media who dont want it to beat the Mclaren?

This things going to have more luxury, bigger engine and everything else bigger than an SLR yet its going to weigh less, lets complain about how useless the Mercedes SLR Mclaren is!

IMO the SLR is not a driver's car but more of a super GT.... mercedes ruined this car by putting too much crap in it and making it too heavy.

As for the veyron, we shall see

i don't see bugatti ever getting rid of that grill. it's what makes it a bugatti - it's the traditional design element that's on all bugattis. (look closely - you'll see it even on the EB110). It also makes it unique. I'm def. a fan of the old school inspired grill.

And financially, Bugatti said to CAR magazine last year that it cannot break even on the Veyron, and that it's almost certainly bound for a loss. it will however bring back the name of Bugatti, and they'll try and use it to leverage a newer, lower end car for 2008 or so.

yea i like the grill too, its unique. and thats a good call on the EB110 i never noticed that before its so subtle.

If this car lives up to the expectations then it should be awesome, i really like the styling but i'm beginning to wonder about the driveability of 1000bhp car, they've had problems with just about everything imagineable mostly engine related due to the sheer task of getting 1000 horsepower out of an engine and keeping it reliable and driveable. Engines over heat, didnt produce enough power, burnt out the drive train etc....

Apparently the head of bugatti came out and said they'd fixed all those problems, now they just needed to sort the suspension and the steering! :shock:

I hope it makes it but it might just be a big if!

^dude, it's totally NOT a 1000bhp car.... it's a 1001bhp car! That 1hp makes all the difference!

i kno what u mean, and the fact that they had to add that one hp makes it all the more rediculous.

It's not even 1000bhp, i think its 1001 PS and 987bhp, according to the latest EVO anyway.....

well at least that's what its supposed to be, whether it will actually be is a different matter

^ it depends on how you measure the horsepower. i read about this waay back in 2002 or something in motor trend, but apparently the bugatti used a european way of measuring horsepower, and they got it to the desired 1001hp. motor trend, which sites all of its power in SAE net horsepower, translates that into 987bhp. so yeah, u and evo are right.

i wonder if one is even able to tell a difference between 14 bhp when power is on that scale.... i doubt it.
