That's nothing! You put that in your McLaren F1, and my Civic with NOS and a 5' muffler will rip ya a new one.
On the serious side, that engine is a beast. How old is it? I do know it's a airplane engine, and I think it's around 50 years old.

something like that...i think its from WWII... it was in the last stages of development when the war ended. at that point it was making [email protected] was detuned to 1600hp@3000rpm so it would have a better reliability rate and therefore could be used in comercial aircraft.

...not be a rivet counter, but the Merlin, being a wartime engine was under continual development for the duration of the war... with the Griffon carrying these honours post war.
So - really the Merlin (in all forms) really did free the world... 10's of thousands were built by Packard (if memory serves me right) in the USA for wartime use.
Nice bit of history none the less...

Holy shit... that IS an engine.. Have you guys ever seen this bike i think it was yamaha, it had 48 cylinders...

don't forget the Mercedes Benz engines the Me109's used...they extensively used NOs for high altitude power, basically they used that instead of a bigger supercharger...
