I picked this magazine up a couple days ago. it's called 'mph' - maximum performance + horsepower. i had never read it before, and it was only $2, so i decided to get it.
Overall, I was not really that impressed. It's mostly just American trash, IMO. They try to be funny, crude, and include pics of hot women, but they don't really succeed. This one article though, was worth scanning in my opinion. Of course, my POS scanner couldn't replicate perhaps the one redeeming quality of this mag - the photos. (they're better than motortrend, about on par with road and track, but fall short of EVO, CAR, TG, IS etc).
Anyway, here's an article about V-max at Nardo. Excellent group of cars - among the top supercars in the world. All doing speed and acceleration tests.
And one more quick article on Superchargers:
My analysis: occasionally a funny remark, a great test w/ unparalleled cars and some nice pics to boot, but it ultimately fell short of my expectations. The science/tech talk was perfunctory (they lauded Nardo, yet ignorantly didn't mention that the excess friction due to centrifugal force of the banking robs speed, and their engine talk was weak - perhaps this is not entirely to blame on them, but the stupid [american] audience that reads this magazine. [trust me, after reading the Mail section in the front, some of these readers are truly stupid. the kind that buy a mag just to see hp stats and big numbers.]) the writing itself, while decent, lacked any sort of emotion or creativity. Nonetheless, it should be a decent read for most who respect the great supercars of this age.
Enjoy,
