i cant agree with that... the Elise is actually Quite comfortable for long distance driving... and i only have 1 complaint about it (besides wishing the S2000 motor was in it) you are at an akward angle from the drivers seat to the windshield where visibility behind sucks, left and right arent terrible, straight is just fine, but looking at a stop light? nope... its quite difficult to keep an eye on the light situation.... this europa seems to suffer the same angles.
Well I guess Lotus might disgree with you, just got this from seriouswheels. It's the Lotus press release. Suprisingly they wont sell the Europa in North America which I though was the largest market for GT based cars. Wierd Lotus marketing ppl

(from Lotus Press Release) The new Lotus Europa S, a Grand Tourer (GT) inspired two-seater will provide Lotus customers with a spectacular sportscar with significantly enhanced levels of touring and cruising capability. It will provide drivers with higher levels of practicality and refinement to complement the simplicity of the Lotus Elise and Exige models.

When compared to the award winning Lotus Elise, the Europa S has a larger boot / luggage compartment and easier cabin access, resulting from lower chassis sides and a higher roof line. Coupled with luxuries such as full leather interior, driver and passenger airbags and carpets all as standard, Lotus has created a “Business Class” driving xperience. However, the Europa S is not a derivative of the Elise or the Exige and has been allocated a separate Lotus type number of Type 121 - the Elise and Exige are both Type 111.
I think Lotus knew about the visibility problem that you've highlighted and they did something about it.

Look at the pics of the elise....

And now look at the europa...

and look it got a decent boot too...

Details for the europa in perfect english are avail at..

p/s: Vauxhall VX220 and the Opel Speedster are the same car.

The back doesnīt look to bad IMO but i donīt like the front. Like some of you said Lotus needs a more agressive design.

I love Lotus and I am a Elise fan but this europa s is looks rubish. It is too ugly. It is ugliest lotus ever. Specs of it is good but I think lotus made a bad move after elise and exige. I am wondering new esprit what looks like?

After all it's built on an extended elise chasis. So it shouldnt suprise us that from the photos it looks like an elise. The VX220 was a not built on an extended elise chasis.

It looks longer than the elise...
Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure that the VX220/Speedster is on a modestly extended Elise/Exige chassis. That is, pretty sure on the order of 30mm, but only 5mm in total extra length, and the tracks, both front and rear are slightly narrower on the Vauxhall/Opel.

Almost as ugly as the old Europa. I have heard som rumors about the resurrection of the Esprit with an Mercedes engine. That could be cool.

I believe that the styling of the car was designed for an older demographic. 35 to 50 year olds that will be purchasing these cars don't necessarily want flashy body work. Like insane mentioned, it is a GT car. Maybe you guys might like the styling better if you see one in person. Some cars do not look that well in photographs.
