Default Need help from fish owners

I know we have a couple of fish owners on this site and I was hoping they could help me. I have been thinking of getting a fish tank for a little while now but I dont really have a whole lot of experiance with this sort of thing.

Salt vs. fresh water. What is the difference in difficulty as far as maintainance goes? I am really only looking for something probably smaller than 60 gallons.

What about fish selection? I figure salt water has more variety of creatures and I would like to have a few different types in the tank. Are there any resources online that would tell me which types of fish are capable of living with others in the same type of climate, etc? If possible, I would like to have maybe one or two interesting looking, colorful fish and also maybe a little crab, lobster, eel, or sea-horse (I really like different types of sea life)

I went to a store today and saw some stuff I like, but I wanted to get a little more info before I did anything. Any help you guys could offer is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for the link Jabba!

I have always been interested in having a fish tank, it just always seemed like such a vast topic that I never really knew where to start. Im gonna keep researching and see what I can find.
