According to http://mobile.softpedia.com/phones/S...mens-M55.shtml, the SAR rating is 0.64 W/Kg. Not sure if there's a different standard for the North American measurements or the change in frequency (1900 vs. 1850) can make such a difference in SAR??

To be honest we just don't know. We've only had cellphones for last decade. A good 70 or so year long term study is the only way we will know for sure.

While the phone is in stand-by mode, it doesn't actually send signal to the cell tower constantly, only once every hour or so to confirm its location. Try putting the phone near a speaker, you'll notice static during the call but not during standby.

So don't worry *that* much about it, I'd more worry about all the antennas in the city. The strength of the signal is much higher than that from the phone itself.
