Default Lotus to re-enter re-engineering business?

Lotus is considering proposals to to re-engineer cars from other automakers as it did as many as forty years ago with the Ford Lotus Cortina, Talbot Lotus Sunbeam and Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, according to the U.K.'s Eastern Daily Press. Other British media reports suggest the 2007 Ford Mondeo or Opel Vectra could be possible targets. The aim would be to create vehicles akin to the Audi "S" line or BMW "M" series.
Carlton redux anyone?

The problem is that in the past people bought 'expensive' cars from Ford or Vauxhall but nowadays people is obsessed with the german manufacturers (BMW, Audi....) and cars like the Mondeo ST are more exclusive than the AM DB9

Is this really news? I mean there are already been instances where Lotus has done work for other companies (Vauxhall, Proton, Chevy, VW)

Or are they now going to other large companies?? Lotus Pontiac GTO

They've done work for companies yes, such as 'Handling by Lotus' and things like that mostly, but nothing that I can recall on the same scale as the Carlton.

I see you've learnt that from Jeremy Clarkson from top gear. Is very true though and people are missing out that ST220 is a great car and a huge chunk cheaper than it's german rivals.
