They've used something similar this in architecture already. Transparent cement blocks. It was actually pretty interesting because they looked completely opaque until somebody shone light through them.

These would make sense for as headlamp protectors actually. Imagine having something as hard as the car's body protecting your xenons. Not a bad idea at all, especially for racing and off-roading purposes.

Im more curious if the maker came up with that webby on aluminium oxide, like perhaps the rims in the pix are just lexan.

Any of the racers here, have you seen a guy leave the strip with skinnies on the front and try to take a highspeed corner. It aint pretty they turn into metal tacos. With those clear, rims id be more concerned that they would fold over.

And yes they are just Lexan, the brand name for Polycarbonate.

And if this is the next ricer trend there are going to be alot of dead ricers. Theres a vid on the site of this guy doing donuts with the wheels on.. But...
The thing about lexxan is you use heat to shape it, and not that much heat actually. He uses his brakes enough and the stuff will deform.. And then darwin has cleansed the gene pool further.

Not to mention he has less airflow to his rotors then brains in his head.

Well if you read the extra info they have clear Aluminum that can be used for wheels.

I think for a show car for someone like Brembo, Baer, Stoptech etc it would be pretty cool just to show off their product. Now the double take factor would be well worth to me though driving down the road andpeople just looking and going wtf?
