Drivers to pay 60 euros if you want to drive though Belgium

So the highway issue wasnt worked out in the Euro thing. I can see one country saying, we dont want all this thru traffic, no one stops to buy gas or get a meal so stay out or pay 60 euros. In the US the federal government paid for all the interstates so the individual states really cant say anything. Plus the federal government pays each state to maintain their roads through the national gas tax.
Of course many of the new highways are toll roads so your paying twice.

It wont be long before you owe money just to breath let alone drive a car.

When you rent a car in America half of the cost is taxes. Usually to pay for the local sports stadiums in the city your renting in.

If you are a foreigner and you want to drive through Belgium on decent roads ... Just pay instead of bitching about the road conditions :x

The extra money will help maintaining the roads I guess ...

I hope a lot of truck drivers will avoid driving through Belgium when they have to pay because its prolly them who damage our roads

But on the other hand (as said before), doesnt the EU stands for 'no borders' between the different EU countries?

They already have the same kinda vignette in Switzerland, but it's only applicable to highways (and it costs only 30euros).

50 Swiss francs / year is a great deal IMO.. sure, not that good for tourists who buy it for a single trip.

I think in Austria you can buy a temporary one which only lasts some weeks or months and cost less than the normal one
