I'd like to see how it works in one of the usual anti-globalization riots...
They'll go insane and scream "Argh!!!! Global warming!!!!!!!!!".

Microwaves go directly through cardboard

They'd have to use some sort of thick metal/lead.. and it's not likely they can cover their whole body.

The prototype was on an episode of the Discovery Channel's 'Futureweapons'. As far as taking it out with a bullet, I'm sure they could put a protective dome on it.

Many pilots of the time were the opinion that a fighter pilot in a closed cockpit was an impossible thing, because you should smell the enemy. You could smell them because of the oil they were burning.

Remember it will have a least 2 settings - "Warm Toast" and "Microwave"... just crank up the heat if they don't retreat

That is, if they could get to it. Unless the attackers were unaffected by its ray, they would be running for the hills way before they could get close enough to put a protective dome over it.

its microwaves, it can go through just about anything. And even if someone does come up with some sort of protection, it wont be able to fully cover the body. Microwaves will find a way in to any part of the body and you will feel the burning sensation.

I felt this on my finger, I can't even imagine what it would be like all over your face.

If you spend enough time, you will notice there's a spammer's corner.
