The X6 MAY work because it looks rather young-ish. The R-class was a large van. Nothing cool about it all.

It looks like a souped up Lexus RX. However, I kinda like the styling....looks alot like rally car.

Right, you have actual knowledge of theses cars and their purposes, but many people will just see this as, 'the latest and greatest BMW'.
I still can't believe people can pay $50k+ for something as ugly as the R-class.
