Of course, that's an average, so there'll be plenty of (fast/fun) cars and trucks that achieve less than that.

Actually there wont be.... to meet the cooperate average, there will be one of two things happening; there will be too much demand, and regulated supply for the cars that actually are fun, or the used market will maintain value far longer....

actually, both may happen. Not only that, but what if they are forced to make all these cars which get in excess of 35 mpg, but there aren't enough buyers? What happens to the big 3 (big 2?) then... government subsidies like the rail transit system in America??
bleak times ahead if nothing is changed...
